hermesTRX - GPS based Emergency Lone Worker Supervisory system with hermesTRX

The hermesTRX system has been enhanced with an Emergency Man Down and Lone Worker function to provide GPS based Lone-worker Supervision using Open Street Maps or Google Earth as its mapping platform. The hermesTRX Man Down Option Board is designed to be retrofitted into the MOTOROLA range of MOTOTRBO hand portable radios. In the event that an employee becomes injured or falls unconscious a 'man-down' notification is sent immediately to the hermesTRX Dispatch position.

Details

The hermesTRX man-down board works 'silently' in the background enabling the user to utilize his portable radio as normal. Voice calls and data messaging are available just as before, however should the radio be placed at an 'unusual' angle, the radio will emit a pre-warning tone to the user. Should the user not correct the angle of the radio, the radio will automatically sends out an emergency alert notification.

To assist the 'search team' in the rescue, the radio will emit an audible tone for the duration of the emergency call to ensure the downed employee is found as quickly as possible. The search team will use the audible tone as a 'beacon' to assist in the search process.

Upon receiving an alert notification, the hermesTRX will display the location of the worker on digital maps as a RED Icon. Simultaneously, the workers Icon will change status to RED on the hermesTRX Dispatch position. An audible tone is being played to draw the supervisor's attention to the urgent situation. In addition, the board is fitted with a motion detector. Should the radio be motionless for a pre-determined period of time, an alert will be sent to the hermesTRX Dispatch position warning of a potentially danger situation.

The Retrofit kit should only be fitted at an approved Motorola MOTOTRBO workshop. This will ensure the integrity of the IP54 protection class of the radio once the option board has been installed.

The hermes Man Down Option Board comes in two versions, Version 1, which is compatible with hermesTRX, Version 2 which simply sends an alert (Emergency) to another MOTOTRBO radio or group. With Version 2, there is no interaction with hermesTRX therefore the location of the “downed” is unknown.

With the launch of hermesTRX enterprise, hermes microcom is continuing a success story which is without parallel in the MOTOTRBO application segment and has been awarded for the "Most Sold Positioning Application 2010" during the Motorola Conference in Hungary.

Equipped with new features such as Geo-Fencing, the integration of various digital mapping platforms and the direct connectivity for up to 16 MOTOTRBO radios, hermesTRX is leading the standards in the MOTOTRBO application world.

Geo-Fencing has been included to add a layer of certainty to the tracking operations of the fleet. In a typical school bus scenario for example, a fleet of buses will normally operate within a strict geographic area. Should a bus cross the demarcation line, an emergency alert will inform the dispatcher and enables the dispatcher to take appropriate action to ensure the safety of the bus and its passengers. The alerts to the dispatcher cannot only be sent as a normal emergency alert but can also be sent as an email.

Virtual Private Tracking - Multiple User Groups
hermesTRX can facilitate up to 20 users (dispatchers) using the hermesTRX simultaneously. Each user can be assigned to either one distinct dispatcher or to multiple dispatchers. This enables the system to be used by multiple user groups where each dispatcher can only 'see' those subscribers that have been assigned to them.

Guard Control System
There is an increasing demand to provide accountability and traceability in the supervision of routine security tasks based upon our hermesTRX MOTOTRBO fleet management system. The hermesTRX family has been enhanced to provide both indoor and wide area Guard Control traceability. Not only does this solution provide Guard Control, but it can also be utilized to provide man down functionality further enhancing the safety of the guard.

Indoor Tracking compliments Wide Area Tracking
Indoor tracking is accomplished by the installation of a number of beacons throughout the various areas of a building or large complex. The beacon is fitted with an ISM transmitter, which broadcasts a unique 'signature' up to a distance of approximately 25 meters around the beacon. The hermes transponder option board is fitted with a corresponding ISM band receiver, which automatically picks-up the beacon's signature as it is moved around the complex. The hermes transponder option board automatically instructs the radio to send the beacon ID to the hermesTRX dispatch station where the location of the subscriber is updated on the screen. In the event of an emergency, the location of the 'downed' person will be displayed in red on the screen.

Guard Control
By placing beacons close to checkpoints which need to be visited by security guards, the hermesTRX beacon is ideally suited to provide verification that a check has actually taken place. The supervisor of a group of security guards can specify a particular route for each individual guard. Each time a guard checks a particular checkpoint the hermesTRX is updated with their progress, this 'check' is timestamped in the log. Should the guard fail to check aparti cular checkpoint in their designated route, an alarm will be given to the dispatcher, similarly, if the guard checks a checkpoint out of turn, or is delayed in arriving at a particular checkpoint, the dispatcher will receive an alarm. The hermesTRX Guard Control can be used to verify guard's activities in both a wide area or a small complex.

The Beacons

The hermesTRX beacons have a coverage range which ranges from 1 meter up to 25 meters (1-75 ft). The output power can be adjusted as necessary to define the required coverage range. The beacons an be supplied in 3 variants for indoor, outdoor and flush mount variants. To eliminate failure of a beacon due to low battery power, the MOTOTRBO automatically send the actual battery power of the beacon each time the beacon ID is transmitted to the hermesTRX.
